Preventive Service
Taking care of your vehicle on a routine basis will save you money and down time in the future. Manufacturers provide recommended maintenance based on time or mileage. Additionally flushes are important to avoid unnecessary accumulation of contaminated fluid and lead to premature wear and tear. Be sure to be familiar with maintenance schedules used in conjunction with your vehicle owners manual.
Depending on the make and model of your vehicle, foreign or domestic, recommended maintenance schedules will vary. Your skilled and factory trained technician at Lake Ridge Auto Care knows what is required.
Service |
Interval |
| Air Filter | Annually or 15k, unless conditions are very dusty, then more frequently. It's only a few bucks so don't' hold back here. |
| Alignment | Recommended every 30K miles but LRAC also recommends alignment to be checked yearly. |
| Coolant (Anti-Freeze) | Climate and type of coolant used dictates this schedule. The coolant mixture chart on the container gives specific mixture requirements by climate/temperature. Generally change it every 2 years or 30k. |
| Distributor Cap & Rotor (Where Applicable) |
Inspected every 30k or 2 years as applicable. |
| Drive Belts (AC/Alternator Steering, etc.) | Annual visual inspection should occur on any vehicle with over 45k miles. |
| Fuel Filter | Every 2 years or 30k miles. Consult your owner's manual as this varies greatly. |
| Ignition Wires | Every 45k or 3 years. If they look old and are dry rotted, replace them regardless of the time. |
| Oil Change | 3,000 miles or 3 months whichever comes first. |
| PCV Valve | Changing the same time as your air filter change. |
| Spark Plugs | Depends on the type of plugs installed by the manufacturer and our individual driving conditions. |
| Rear Differential (If rear wheel Drive) | Every 2 years or 30k miles or as recommended by the manufacturer. |
| Timing Belt | This is owner manual specific and is critical as belt failure can cause serious engine damage. Do not use guess work on this! |
| Tire Rotation | 6 months or 7,500 miles. Tire rotation is commonly from front to rear, but not always. Your LRAC technician will know the proper schedule depending on your vehicle and tires. |
| Transmission Fluid & Service | Varies with driving style and load on the vehicle. If you tow, or live in a mountainous region, services should be more frequent. Every 2 years or 30k miles is a good baseline. |
